power steering leak

Default power steering leak

were is the first place i should look for a power steering leak on my 1990 240?

If the fluid reservoir leaks, replace it. I've had to replace mine twice because after awhile they leak at the seam. If the leak is at a hose connection, tighten it up. If the steering rack leaks it needs replacement. Unfortunately the steering rack is a $250 item for a rebuilt unit, with trade-in, and it's about four hours of work for a pro. Not hard to do but it's all there.

Where is the leak? Are you sure it's power steering fluid?

it is definitely steering fluid and it looks like the reservoir. thanks

Glad to hear it's only the reservoir. I suggest replacing with a Volvo part, they're more expensive but seem to last longer. Keep the receipt for the 12-month warranty.
