Default put 740/850 front seats in a 240?

Hi,

I have a 1985 240dl. The driver's seat is in sad shape. I'm wondering if 740 or 850 seats with the appropriate tracks will fit in a 240. Anyone had success with this type swap?

Thanks,

Eric

"Simple Brackets" being the operative word... Why don't you just get a passenger seat and adopt it to the drivers, much easier and keeps the originality.

Well Lev, thats actually two words. Lets not get into semantics tho shall we?? How about this take a seat in 240 seat, than sit in an 850 seat and tell me what one is more comfy. At this point originality is not my main goal... Plus I'm not so sure, i have taken apart several 240 seats and reassembled, i actually think finding two nice quality 850 seats and paying someone 30 bucks to weld a few brackets will actually be lots easier, everything will bolt right in... Tha hardest part will be finding some dark brown pleather 850 seats :/

Did you even look at the Tbrick thread?

INMO, if you wanna get some REALLY comfortable seats, score a set out of a late 80s, early 90s Mercedes "w124" family (260E, 300E, 300D, etc). the "MB Tex" aka "Taxi Leather" (aka german vinyl) last freekin' forever, and are /really/ comfortable on long road trips. sure, you'll need to make an adapter plate to bolt them in, and you'll need to rig up some kind of power seat switches (they are virtually all power seats). they have a really wide range of height adjustment.
