Default A Question About Replacing The PCV Flame Trap

is it better to have the PCV Flame Trap replaced right before or right after an oil change ? (that's if the timing of changing the oil actually matters here.)

can't do both the oil change and the PCV flame trap at the same time since i will be doing the oil change at home and my Volvo mechanic is going to do the flame trap for me.

car info: 1989 240 DL.

Makes no difference when you do it.

When I replaced the oil trap on my 850 T I found the orifice behind the trap to be about 60% blocked with a big gooey oil plug. So as I scraped it out Im sure a few debris fell down into the oil pan below. I waited until after I replaced the trap to change the oil for this reason.

An 850 is totally different than a 240 and the 700 series cars. The flame trap on the B230 engines should be cleaned every 5,000 miles. You should also clean the throttle body every 10,000 miles.

I look at the flame traps every 12-15,000 miles but generally keep an eye on the crankcase pressure. If it turns positive, I address the flame trap.

Default 240 flame trap

Where is it located? I have a 1992 240 and can't find the flame trap.
