I am considering purchasing a 92 240 Sedan Auto with 130K miles
Anything Volvo specific I should look out for?
Previous owner states that since removing the ABS computer The speedo/ODO only work above 50 MPH, sound right?
Are the 4 speed AT reliable?
The car is in good condition not perfect but looks OK.
New rear muffler and rear pads.
What do you all think is a fair price

 

Oil leaks are a common warning sign of poor maintenance in 240s. Oil leaks may indicate a lack of maintenance of the PCV system,one of the cheapest and easiest things to maintain on a 240. If someone didn't do this most basic item, what else did they neglect?

Oil leaks are definately something you want to look at. If the person selling the car says its been well maintained it should not be leaking. The other thing would be to make sure that the overdrive is working consistently. I don't know about the ABS comp speedo thing but it sounds a little strange. Check the brakes out and make sure they work evenly as they should. A 240 with only 130 K that doesnt leak oil should turn out to be a pretty good car.

 

I too thought that this may be a good car, based on the no leaks, no rust factor

BUT people are telling me the speedo/brakes thing is BAD and I should run ????

Drives good, brakes good, all power and even that works.....

I'm stuck
