Ready to buy 93 240.What to expect?
Hello all , great site. I've had my eye on a 93 240DL (white) for the better part of two years and finally came across
one yesterday that I'm seriously thinking about buying. Seems to run good , is clean inside and out, has 104k and is owned
by the original owner. Carfax report was all good. I'm just wondering what I can expect maint. wise in the future , what might
be the first big repairs. The owner stated he's done all the usual maint. along the way, timing belt among other things.
I understand it'll be a good idea to take it in to a shop. Would you change or replace anything right off the bat or just run it ?
All of a sudden I'm apprehensive and over-whelmed with re-occurring repairs and expences. Thanks for any comments...rob

First thing to do is make sure they just did the timing belt 4,000 miles ago.It was due at 100,000 miles.Check the engine mounts and trans mount. If the engine mounts have been bad for a while you will notice paint rubbed off of the oil pan.Other than that and the brakes just a general look over. Also check for oil leaks.
You should be fine in the near future.

OK thanks . The owner stated the timing belt was changed at 70,000 and the price is $ 5700. Is it best to take Volvos to a Volvo shop or can any good mechanic get around the car easy enough ? Do you think these cars are
more costly to work on than your average American ? Thanks again for your comments....rob

I like working on the older Volvo's.To me they are the easiest cars to work on.You should take it to someone who knows Volvo's they can look for what they know goes wrong.
