Default Rear Brake and Tail Light Problem

My left rear brake and tail lights do not work. At first just the tail light did not work, but it would work every other start up. Now they are both consistently out. I switched the sockets/bulbs to the right side; they work fine. The fuses all look ok. Might this be the printed circuit board? Or? If it is the printed circuit board, can I use an emory board for your nails and clean it off, or something else?

Check the printed circuit board and also the plug at the tail light. Also check the plastic at the tail light where the socket goes in.
