I guess i wasn't clear on that part. the boges were the proper replacement for the Nivomat system for it to work as designed. I just avoided getting them thru volvo.

The replacement kit is Boge's and stronger springs. Is your understanding different?

Didn't occur to me that you could get that much of a saving on the original shocks.... not to mention Boge is also sited as the replacement-kit-shock of choice by IPD.

Well, I got the IPD kit in. All looks correct. Tomorrow I'll get the springs and shocks installed. I'm thinking this is going to work.... ![Smile](https://volvoforums.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Sorry for dragging this out. It has been confusing, given I didn't own the vehicle from the get-go. The lack of Nivomat shocks mislead me (the original Nivomats are easily discernible via the diameter and rubber). So I thought the "kit" had been installed. So replacing the shocks alone did nada.
The springs and shock combination is going to work... its going to work... its going to work...

Well, short story is the IPD conversion kit nailed it. Vehicle height is perfect... performance is wonderful. Thanks for all the advice from several different people.
Total cost was $246 for the shocks (Boge) and spring kit, and $190 to put them in, from Wheel Works. Less than the cost of one Nivomat shock... and a more permanent solution.
Vehicle feels really good.
