New Rear Shocks. Rear end now too high?
I replaced my rear shocks with Monroe's # 39040. To make them the same length as the old ones I added the 1" sleeve that was provided. The back end of my car now appears to be about 1 to 2 " too high. I thought the whole weight of the car sat on the coil springs, not the shocks.
- Is rear end of the car higher because of the new shocks?
- If so, should I take out the sleeve?
- Did I use the wrong shocks?
Advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Have you driven it since you replaced the shocks, or did you just let the car down and now the ride height looks wrong? You are correct about the springs determining the ride height unless you used a load sensing/leveling shock.
The shocks don't affect the ride height at all, so either you just didn't notice the ride height previously, or something else changed. Maybe your gas tank is emptier than you normally allow? That can make a surprising amount of difference in the ride height of the rear end.
