Recently acquired 1993 Volvo 240 Classic
Recently acquired a 93' 240 classic. One owner. Shows 79K but I checked the car fax and odometer broke in 2006. #1348 of 1600. According to previous owners driving history, it probably has around 100K-110K miles. Was garaged it's entire life. No cracks in the dashboard or anything. Interior is really nice. He was a fairly old gent. Couple of minor things wrong with it (heat seater lights don't turn on, left front speaker blown). I had to put new tires on it. It has brand new struts, mounts, tire rods, ball joints...I replaced all fuses and fixed the A/C drain pipe (was clogged). I got it checked out and they said it's in great shape for it's age. I got it dirt cheap. I didn't even really know anything about the classic model until I drove it home and looked it up on the internet.
Any idea of it's value? Should I just drive the snot out of it or is this something I should resell to someone who would appreciate it's collectable value (if any)?

Collectible value? Heck yes, to me at least. May I ask what you mean by dirt cheap? Some say the Classic model is not really worth more than any other model because the only specialties are two unique color options with matching color rear view mirrors and grill, wood dash trim, standard alloys, plaque in dash, and maybe something else. No turbo to go out in style, thus no real rarity to some. I think the Classic Edition adds another grand or so to the current condition of the car.
She looks like a real beauty though. Don't run it into the ground. How did you come across it? Anyways, It has value, that's for sure, and you probably made an investment.

Thanks for the reply. I saw it sitting in someone's driveway and randomly talked to a guy sitting out front about it. He said it was for sale.
The rear right bumper has a few marks/indentations from where it was hit. Carfax reports minor accident back in 2004. Just a very minor fender bender. Paint is still really really nice...has a few scratches here and there...nothing that couldn't be buffed out. Thought about getting the rear bumper buffed out but not even sure it's worth the trouble.
The car was babied...and I'm continuing to baby it and drive it like an old lady
I originally was interested in the car because I like older volvos. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out it was one of the last 240s made.
I dunno, I've tossed around the idea of selling it to someone who would properly look after it and possibly turn it into a show car in the future. I may test the market.

Whereabouts do you live? I would love to take a look and own one, but not really in a position to own another one yet.
That's great you stumbled across it, hope you find the right person to sell it to, not some kid out of high school either (but I'm different, and would definitely take care of it).

When will I ever be in Illinois? Well, I'll let you know. Seems like you have nothing more to do on the car, except change the seat heater light bulbs, which are really easy. You sure the speaker is blown, or are wires just loose?
