Remanufactured alternator - woodruff key
I'm doing a little work on a friend's 240DL - brakes, alternator and water pump. This is the first time I've worked on a Volvo and it's frustrated the hell out of me so far
Anyways, I got a reman ACDelco alternator from Rock Auto which didn't come with a pulley or capacitor on the back. As I was removing the pulley from the old alternator, I noticed it was missing the woodruff key. Great....
Anyone know where I can get one of those?

Junkyard. But MISSING? If it's MISSING, are you sure it's needed? I have never ran into Volvo Woodruff key issue before... Are you sure you needed an ALT in the first place? Worst case, may be a regulator? Brushes?
The thing on the back is actually the regulator, that will help you find it if you need to buy it. It's also the brushes. Woodruff keys can be bought at a hardware store like Ace. Since you'll only find standard sizes get one that's over-sized and file it down to fit. That is if you even need one.
A friend of mine had a junk alternator with a woodruff key that fit fine.
Another question, the reman. alternator didn't come with a capacitor. The one on the old alternator is 0.22uF-100V. I'm assuming this is some sort of filter capacitor and should be swapped out to the new one?
