Removing Spark Plug Wires, I cant seem to get them off

Is there some special trick to pulling the spark plugs wires out?
Car is a 1982 240 DL

Grab 'em by the boot, then twist to the left, then twist to the right, then pull.

Seriously, that's a good way to release a stuck boot. You could also buy a remover tool like so

Boot Puller Tool

To prevent sticky boots in the future, a thin smear of dielectric grease on the inside of the boot will take care of the problem.
