Replaced Water pump. Top hose hot bottom cold

Question Replaced Water pump. Top hose hot bottom cold

Replaced my leaking water pump today (Balmy 32 degrees today.. awesome) got it on OK, ran up to temp. top hose gets hot bottom stays cool. is my T stat stuck? Gauge shows normal temp.

or is this pump not p u m p i n??

I would replace the thermostat and check from there.

That's what I was thinking.... but why would it not overheat if the T stat was staying closed?

well it might be broke and allowing only a little bit through just enough to keep it from overheating.

Yeah. Well they are cheap and I'm sure it needs replaced anyway.
