Group 47 -- I have a feeling that my car may have had those changes you mentioned years prior as the Bosch battery fit right in.

This is the battery in question, not the S3 as previously mentioned: Bosch Premium Performance Battery Group Size 47 | Product Details | Pep Boys

yeah, dno't let that Bosch name fool you, thats just licensed, that battery comes from Johnson or Deka or Exide, same as all the others. I think Bosch might be Pep Boys house brand or something now.

its quite possible the newer 240's were rejiggered to take group 47, same as the 740/940's.

Anyway. I'm pretty sure it's just the battery (I haven't checked how old it is). So I'm looking for suggestions for a new one. Do I have to get Group 47? Or will the battery tray on the 240 hold a different one? Though I love my 240, I don't have the cash to put a top dollar battery in there (I wish I did). Anyone have any luck with other sizes?

Also, if you don't think it's the battery let me know.
group 48 I have a inter

Bought the battery in February 2018 and it's still cranking MTP48/H6 730 CCS $234 rather expensive but for 5 years and still starts in -20

Get the most CCA for your dollar that fits. Install a plastic battery box BEFORE the rust starts. They usually come with a seat belt.
