Default resurrecting an '84 240 wagon

First off, I'm a new and proud Volvo B23F owner. I've always wanted a 245, and I found one for a price that I couldn't pass up.

It's cosmetically in GREAT shape: straight body, almost no rust at all, 99% of the interior is still completely intact.

It just doesn't run...yet...but for $200 and the opportunity to try it's certainly worth a shot.

Here's my question:

I've just put in a new battery; it had been sitting for a few months < a year. If I want to do things right, right from the get go, what should my next steps be? I'm reasonably mechanically inclined, so I like the experience of doing as much of myself as possible. I have records of a recent exhaust replacement and a new timing belt. The previous owner said that it could prob. use an inline/in tank fuel pump and a water pump. Am I right to assume that the fuel pump I need is this is the cheaper of the two on the 240s? the starter seems to be functional, but the engine won't fire just yet (expected). What should I do to get ths beauty up and running? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks!

The first thing to do is check the basics do you have fuel and spark?

Then I would drain the fuel and replace the fuel filter.
Look at the belts and see if the water pump is leaking.
