Sachs Advantage discontinued?
I've been playing musical shocks with my '93 940 Turbo Wagon. I started with Monroe gassers, sorry couldn't resist the cheap price and lifetime warranty. They handled great but we're much too firm. So, I reverted to Sachs Super Touring, which is an oil shock and standard on non-turbos. That was softer but lost some handling. So, finally, decided to go with OEM Sachs Advantage which is a gas shock and supposedly what the Turbos came with. Here's the dilemma. Sachs(ZF) has discontinued them. Why, nobody knows. Ironically, IPD, FCP, E Euro and every other supplier still carry both the oil(Super Touring) and gas (Advantage) rear shocks but only the oil(Super Touring) front strut. Anybody know what's going on? Are they going to bring out another replacement front, gas strut. Some do still offer the Boge Turbo but that's heavy duty and comparable to the Bilstein HD's. Don't want that. At this point I'm considering Meyle struts and shocks. I've heard they're made in China but designed in Germany. Which is no problem since Sachs rear shocks come from Mexico. And they are gas and cheap. Anybody ever try them?
