Hello!

what can be used by me to diagnose the service light that is on on my 91 740? is the OBD II tool usable for this, or what is? Also, does this light signify routine maintenance or is it a problem? Would love to do whatever it needs myself and SAVE ME SOME MONEY!!!

Is it the SERVICE light or Check Engine light?

 

Isn't there a reset button to shut the service light off.?
there is a small black, circular rubber plug in the clear plastic of the instrument cluster. Carefully remove the plug ... then take a very small phillips screw driver or even a nail and push in the re-set pin just behind the hole in the clear plastic. The button will click. Replace the plug and the service light is re-set.

Its an oil change reminder.

I can do it for you for $125, but you'll have to bring it in and leave it for 2 weeks.
(doesn't include oil change or ANY taxes).

Thank you very much! You were right and the light is out. Does this happen every few thousand miles or so, or on everyoil change interval or at other scheduled maintenances?
