Smog it to junk it???
I don’t know if other States have a buyback program, but California does. The mechanic that has been working on the wife’s 84 240 wagon convinced her to stop pouring money into it. After a new clutch, used tranny, exhaust and many other parts. Because of the rust that is showing up it’s time to go. I wish he would have done this good few hundred dollars ago. Any way she found an 85 in better shape. Now she is talking about selling the car to the state for $650. But she has to smog it first. If the state is buying them back to get the old timers of the road why would it have to be smogged? The car runs fine and last time passed smog just fine.
