Default Still searching for Electrical short on 740 Turbo...

i parked my 1990 740 Turbo Sedan earlier this year and bought a Jeep Grand Wagoneer because the Volvo had an ongoing electrical problem.

The blinkers, power windows, heated seats, (everything on one circuit) stopped working.

I unhooked all the power seats, no change.

I unhooked all the Power windows at the doors, no change. I jumped a hotwire to the Power window fuse, and the PW all work great, but the relay is on the problematic fuse.

Ive removed the A/C compressor, no change.

Removed the blinker relay and blinker switch, unplugged all blinker lights, no change.

What happens is if I put a fuse in the #10 fuse holder, it immediatly blows the fuse. I dont mean it pops, it blows the crap out of the fuse, literally damages the plastic when it blows. It only blows when the key is on too.

The fuse block cover says that on that fuse, there is- Seatbelt warning, power window relay, A/C, heated seats relay, Turn Signals.

Any hints...it's really annoying becuse this car runs like a swiss watch, chirps the 1-2 shift, has a new turbo, and all new interior, all original...166K miles.

I got a 86 240 with the same problem...my blinkers work or don't work...now they stopped working...but I noticed that the hazzard switch might me the problem...I kept hearing a clicking sound as if my turn signal was on...I hit the hazard emergency light switch and that was it.....THE SAME NOISE...I think it is related to this...I keep taking out the radio and pulling the freaking cables and that's when it started...I am thinking of tanking out the hazard switch off completely...

HOW ABOUT A VOLTAGE REGULATOR? BY THE BATTERY?

The turn signals, hazard lights and seatbelt warning lights all share the same relay. I would look long and hard at that relay before going further.
On my car, the frequency of the seat belt warning light will change to suit turn signals when you turn them on.

The hazzards work good, all the lights flash like they are supposed to, inside and out....

Which relay?

The one that ticks when they flash! Just put your finger on teh relays, you will know which one is working at the time.
