tail lights....huh?
After getting my car inspected, i went on a delivery and noticed when i returned to my car that the tail light that had been burnt out and replaced at my local mieneke was WAY brighter than all my other ones. So hot the plastic was starting to deform. I took it out and inspected it. The bulb is allot bigger than the same light on the other light cluster.
I went to Advanced Auto and asked for a brake light but they tried to give me the same one. Both were dual filament. but the contacts on the bulb cluster look as if it will only accept a single filament bulb.
Am i just using the wrong nomenclature? What are these lights called?

The 1992 Volvo 240 owner's manual just calls it a "tail light".
As the above page shows, turn, fog and backup are 1156, brake is 1157, and tail is #67.
