Chilton does suck, but I somehow came across one for free and its good for a few wiring diagrams and that is about it.

Have you connected your oil pressure wire yet? I have blown exactly ONE engine driving around with it unplugged. I ran too low on oil on a 1975 240 with the pushrod B20F and it started clacking on the freeway. I was planning on pulling the engine anyways, so I kept on driving to see how long till it blew up. It lasted about 10 miles before it shot the rod out the side of the block. The cloud of oil smoke and coolant steam was pretty impressive!

Haha wow that sounds fun. I have looked for the wire that goes to the pressure sensor, but I cannot find it...

I have never like Chilton, the only times I've used them is when there was not a Haynes available.

got the engine bay cleaned up so I can check for leaks and such

I note thats a 'Regina/Rex' fuel injection and ignition system. if you're ever having FI or ignition problems be sure to note that on any requests for help as they are rather completely different than the more common Bosch LH/EZK systems. There's nothing wrong with Regina, its just less well known (I've never had one, for instance). instead of the mass air flow meter (MAF/AMM) that Bosch LH uses, Regina has a manifold air pressure (MAP) sensor...

the tell-tale is that square 'transformer' shaped ignition coil...

hey, thats MY car on the lift, getting its suspenders renewed. note the IPD sway bar is not yet installed, nor was the front subframe brace in place when I took that pic.

my engine was an oily mess due to the turbo oil return line having a failed seal. long since cleaned up.

thanks for the info on the Fuel injection Pierce. i didnt know there was a difference. i thought i saw a MAF on my intake pipe next to my air box, but it is a AIT sensor.

i did find the oil pressure wire. it was laying underneath the oil filter on the passenger side.

i just removed my oil separator to check it out, and it broke. dang. so i added one of those to my flame trap system order.

I googled 940 "bottom of engine"! funny.

DRIVING with no sway bar makes the car pretty fun plowing thru dips around town. Nice and boaty!

my 10 second google search also came up with a REGINA 02 sensor.

Nothing wrong with having a fresh one in there. Can't do anything but increase MPG.

your oil pressure light come on, then go off when you start the car?

i havnt been able to start the car since my last post. still waiting on all the parts that i ordered.

a bosche sensor will NOT work with regina systems. i wondered why my car didnt run any better after isntalling the new (bosche) sensor.

when i took out the old broken off sensor, it was covered with a ton of black soot. The Base fuel Map for the Regina system runs alot richer than the bosche i can see. interesting to know.

I was checking over a few things today, and i noticed my engine has had some work done to it. i wonder what they did! haha. as you can see, this head has been worked on or replaced. the car has over 200k miles. i think they replaced the head. you can still see the hashmarks on the cam. i also noticed new intake manifold gaskets

My engine has alot of vibration at all RPMs. Are all of the B230 engines like this? It feels like an cheap unbalanced motorcycle engine.

Uh yeah, somebody has pulled the head on that car before. I am going to guess it had a coolant leak and then it overheated an popped the headgasket. Take a guess how I can tell this from your photos. Hint-I notice a rust color SOMEWHERE

Tranny looks like its been pulled and cleaned too.

We cannot diagnose your vibration issue over the internet. It's probably normal vibes, but only experience will be able to tell you for sure.

I would double check that the arrows on the driveshaft sections are lined up properly. Especially since somebody looks like they have had it apart in the past.
