Default Is there a way to get actual miles on a 740 GLE

I'm looking at a 740 GLE that has a broken odo. The clock says 338,427 or something like that but it's stuck there. On the early 850's there is a way to use the obd-I port to get the actual cluster miles, is there a way to get the miles on one of these 740's or 240's?

Other than that the wires under the hood are toast.

nope, there's no computer keeping track of these things. the OBD on the late 240/940's (1989+) just reads error codes, on the older LH2.2 ones it didn't even have that.

I seen this car sitting in the parking lot of my apartment complex, then it showed up on CL. So I met the guy and got the key because he said it would not start. He said a mechanic told him that the distributor was bad. I hooked a good battery up to it, pulled a few wires apart and it fired right up.

These cars are know to catch fire because of these bad wires. The thing fired up and pured like a kitten. I might buy it if he lets it go for $250 or less.

yeah, a clean 740 is a nice ride. real solid car, real easy to work on. love my 740 turbo wagon, I like it better than the 850 turbo wagon I had before, even tho the 850 was faster, the 740 is just more comfortable for me.

Buying a 240/740 based on mileage is a shot in the dark. All one needs is a screwdriver...

My 240 mileage is locked at 189k. According to previous owner, that's when the original engine was swapped out....like 10 years ago.

our 1987 240 has read 250,236 miles since about 1995...

I estimate it has around 400K on it now.

The 740 I had several years ago looked like new and had over 400,000 on it when I gave it to a single mom for $7.38. I really enjoyed that car. Just get in, turn the key and go. It costed me about $175 per year in repairs/maintenance other than oil changes.

I like my 850 being a T-5R, wagon to boot. Very nice fast car and the seats are just about perfect for me.

My daughter's S70 has the most comfortable seats I have ever rode in. They are perfect for me.
