Thud noise when i step on gas
92 740 turbo 126k. When i have a few people in the back seat the car makes a wierd noise when i accelarate. I dont have an excessive load in the car, but when there are 2 people in the back or i have a full car there is this thudd sound and i can feel it as well come from the rear wheels when i accelarate. When i am up to speed it stops. Any ideas?

RE: Thud noise when i step on gas
ORIGINAL: tech
The engine mounts are on each side of the motor. The trans mount is at the back of the transmission.
It could also be a bad driveshaft carrier and bearing.

Replace the motor and tranny mounts first, often that stops the noise...then think about replacing or shimming the driveshaft carrier.

RE: Thud noise when i step on gas
I have 940 turbo, 1998 model. Had the same problem that while carrying weight use to have this noise, and the moment the car use to have speed above 80 KM, there was no noise. This problem was solved by (TEC, thanks to him) replacing the gear mounting. The rubber on that mounting had gone down over the period of time, and use to touch the body while carrying load on the car, thats why the noise use to come. Ever since that is changed so now i dont have any vibration / noise in the car. Atleast ask your Mec to take that mounting out from the gear box. You can clearly make out that it is gone or still can be used. Best of luck
