Console Removal - step by step - 94 850
I have to replace or repair the window switch assembly on Sunday (working today) because my driver window is stuck in DOWN position with rain coming in on Monday! I have a new switch assembly (ugh! all 4 plus mirrors @ $141!) in case i need it.
No matter how simple the Haynes manual makes something sound, there is always a glitch so i thought i would see if someone has done this and give me some tips rather than waiting until i get stuck!
As always thanks!
next job, a PNP switch on my 96 960 - whew!
Rich in NC
(any Carolina volvo nuts out there too?)

I have had the center console out of my ’94 850 a couple of times now. Believe it or not it was almost as simple as the Haynes manual suggests.
You will want to disconnect the battery as it suggests because the brains for the airbag system are in the center console and you do disconnect it.
I would defiantly remove the ash tray for “improved access”. It can be a bit tricky to get it out but it will come out.
The only problem I ran into is I gouged out some of the material on the shift handle when lifting out the console. It can be a bit of trick when putting the console back in to get the carpet under it like it was, mine wanted to curl. With the console out it is a great time to get in there with a vacuum and really clean.
You shouldn't have too much trouble following the manual.

hey thanks guys.......... i need to get the darn window up. really the prob is the little lens on the driver switch came loose and fell in the switch, jamming it so i cant push in the UP position. i may be able to shake the little lens thingy out of the opening once i get the assembly out (so i can turn it upside down) and just reinstall it. starting on it now!
