Default Trunk light

Hi,

I drive a 1994 940GL. Recently found out that the light in the trunk of my car doesn't go off when the lid is closed. Found this out when I peeped through the center armrest hole at the rear seats. There should be a contact switch somewhere in the trunk that disconnects when the trunk lid closes, similar to the ones found at the doors but I couldn't find it. Does anyone know where this switch is?

Thanks.

The switch might be part of the Latch assembly.

Thanks, tech.

From previous posts that I searched through the forum, I understood the switch in the latch assembly works to trigger the trunk ajar warning light but not the little lamp in the trunk itself. I checked with a friend's 240 and his trunk light went off when the trunk lid was half way closed, at about a 45 degree angle but we couldn't find the switch that cuts the light off...

The switch should be on the left hand hinge of the boot (trunk) lid. If I remember correctly it is a mercury tilt switch.

Thanks, bill.

I'll try and look for it.
