I bought a volvo 240 DL and after looking at photos online, I kept seeing Volvos that have a front plate that says 240 or DL. Does anyone know what they are called or where I can find one? I would love to put one on the front of my car!

That is a Euro style plate. Go on ebay and search "custom euro license plate".

 

That on the picture is not even a license plate but a sign that says 240; looks like a brochure ad little sign... Pretty hard to find something like that now.

 

You could make one from an old plate. Spray paint it black....spray the numbering in white.

But here in ohio plates are required front and back. exceptions being temp and historical plates.

 

I've thought about vanity plates for my cars...i just looked to see what was available.

Most every configuration i tried using 2/7/9 was available here in ohio except for "240DL" and "B230FT". I've thought about buying "B230F"

 

that picture with the 240 'plate' was undoubtedly a PR/advertising picture from when the car was new. european wheels, side marker lights and the two-tone front turn signals are dead giveaways thats a european model.

 

In AZ, the state correctional facility (prison) will make you an embossed license plate that says what you want. I like the vintage all copper plate myself.
Your state may offer the same service...I just discovered that one must be an AZ resident to buy from this site....
