Default Trying to rebuild my power steering pump

!986 DL 260 wagon; I want to rebuild my power steering pump. The steering pump has no brand name visible. Only the numbers dash784 above 4983.
I ordered a kit from Auto Zone from make and model info and they sold me the wrong one. Anyone know how to find and order the right kit just from these numbers? Thanks!

Volvo used several different suppliers, so I dunno how you know which one to use. The power steering gear could be either CAM or ZF on a 240, adn nothing is interchangable between them. I'm not sure what pump suppliers they used.

rather than rebuilding, its probably better to swap for a re-manufactured pump

btw, about the only things I'd buy for a older Volvo (or any other european car) at Autozone (or any other chain parts store) would be oil, antifreeze, and wiper blades.

Thanks Pierce. Damn, and I was thinking it would be easy changing disk brakes!

Or get a used one, better and cheaper, as they rarely go bad.

The one in there is actually a used one I bought to rebuild while the old one was still in place. But the old one started leaking so bad I tried the used new one and it worked better - but it leaks too - just not as bad. There's only about five O rings and a little bearing doughnut that need to be replaced - tho cramming it all back together against the spring might be a challenge.
