Hi all, I have a 1991 volvo 740 I want to no if I can make it into a turbo and if I can, can someone tell me how to get started on this project.

 

I want to turn my 1991 volvo 740 into a turbo can this be done, if so how.

 

To answer your question yes it can.

Some will say easy, some will say not worth it.

IMO, it isn't worth it to turbo a Volvo that is N/A.

Just buy a turbo model and upgrade it.

 

The turbos have a lower compression ratio, meanining you'd have to replace the current N/A pistons. Too many other diffs to even want to consider the project unless you have plenty of turbo experience. Better to find a wrecked turbo and do an engine/electronics/plumbing transplant if you're really bent on converting. You'd also want to transplant any of the other salvageable goodies that that wrecked turbo might have.
