Default 87 740 Turbo - Turbo type? Turbo's FRIED!

Hello guys,

My turbo is fried. I'm well versed in anything BUT turbo manufacturers and the different specs the turbos come with.

Question, if I'm looking for a turbo for my 87, and the turbo it has is stock, what is the brand and model of the turbo, and what other cars have this type of turbo? (I'm looking for one on craigslist and/or ebay.)

Will some be only oil cooled, or will they all be of my configuration?

Best Regards...

post a picture of said turbo.

there should be a label on the compressor housing (red or green or white)
could be a garrett t3 (or is it a T25?) or mistubishi 12b turbo?

Yes, there can be two types in that model year. A mitsubishi turbo will have a metal identification tag on the compressor housing (front aluminium part of teh turbo) below the intake hose from the air filter box. If it's a Mitsubishi turbo, it'll say something like TDO4H-13c.
The mitsu turbos used on the Volvo are common across a large variety of vehicles.
I know nothing about Garret turbos.

Regards, Andrew.

Garrett turbo should have the ID tag on the backplate of the compressor housing.
