Turbo on a non-turbo 940
Hello fellow volvists,
I asked this question in a previous thread but I think it deserves a new one. Please correct me if this isn't proper etiquette.
I am about to swap my B230FB engine for a turbo B230FT on my 1991 940 GLE.
Can somebody explain to me as if I were 5 years old what parts need to be changed beside the engine block ? Manifolds ? Exhaust ?
Thank you all very much.

If you are swapping the turbo over then the exhaust plus all of the intake plumbing including the intercooler. The ECU and maybe the wiring harness may need swapping as well. I'm sure I forgot some things.
If you really need it all explained to you then it may be too large of a task to not have done professionally.

The turbo engine has a lower compression ratio. If you use it with non turbo manifolds - you will find the engine will make considerably less power than what you have now. Your brick will become a much slower brick. There's a hole in the turbo block for the turbo oil return that you will have to fill and block off the oil feed line as well.
If you try to run it as a turbo engine - you will need the turbo ECU and the compatible wiring harness (to match your year car), all of the intake/intercooler stuff, turbo exhaust downpipe, and many other things from the doner car.
You might be able to simply use just the head from that turbo engine -
