I have a 1978 quad round 244 with sealed beam lights. I’ve heard these older cars can have issues with the switch overheating and melting? Anyway- I assume the original pin position of this car should be set up for 4656 style socket? Front of the drivers side high/low plug seams to suggest that this car has an H4 socket set up?- and not the 4656? The top ( low beam)and bottom left ( high beam) light up with my tester when either is chosen. Can anyone confirm that this wire arrangement is correct/ standard- or should the top and bottom right pins be switched to mirror the 4656 light socket?
Someone could dive into the Volvo wiring diagrams manuals. You could use a multimeter or test lamp. An Ohnmeter or continuity checker would be required to check the ground to chassis connections.
Switches can get hot due to dirty, contaminated, worn or week contacts. You can check the switch by testing for voltage drops across the contacts.
