Default Code 232(again) but with lambda light

I have this code, but have also had the lambda light on the dash lit for a couple of days now.
My question is this, I know the 232 code is idle mix lean/rich, but what does the lambda light tell me? Is the Lambda sensor gone and causing the lean/rich idle, or is teh Lambda sensor merely telling the driver emissions are probably out of range?
The car idles fairly well, it is a little coarse, but certainly not bad for an inline four. It is not rich enough at idle to be noticeable.

Regards, Andrew.

The Lamba light is our check engine light which comes on anytime there is a code in the system.

Thanks. I will have to dig deeper. A bit of history. I bought the car and did a 1300km trip back home in it, it was down on power(found foam clogging more than half of the mesh screen on the AMM). It was running lean (light pinging under heavy power)and had low power at that time.
I got it home, rectified that, replaced fuel, air,oil filters, distributor cap and rotor, leads and plugs and oil change.
After the service, it lit the warning light and has been on since. I might have freaked it's little mind out!
I will try resetting the codes and see what happens I guess.

Regards, Andrew.

Disconnected battery for a few hours. Lambda light is gone now, but idle is rougher. No hesitation off idle or through the rev range when stationary.
Haven't driven the car yet, so we'll see how it goes tomorrow.

Regards, Andrew.

Another update. Car is runing very nicely after a couple of weeks of driving. Very happy, Lambda light has not come on at all.
Still ocasionally a little ragged idling on first start of the day, but settles down after 10 seconds or so.

Regards, Andrew.
