Default uh oh...left parts for 240 after tune up

I have a 1991 240. Been hesitating and acting a little odd sometimes so I did a tune up.

-New plugs
-New wires
-New air filter
-cleaned out flame trap and took apart entire intake assembly since I was in there
-cleaned MAF with proper product

Got ready to move on to new fuel filter when I noticed a little black tube/hose on the ground under the car. It is small diameter, about 6 inches long with a right angle that extends about an inch.

I spent a good 30 minutes trying to figure out where it goes and cannot find ti. Any clue what it is and where it goes and what happens if it's not where it's supposed to be?

Also, my flame trap was covered in clean oil, not gunk. Why is that? I replaced the box that goes down to the oil pan about 6 months ago, hoping that would help but I keep getting oil on the trap and the little plastic part on the top.

thanks!

Here it is sitting on a rag...have no idea where it's from or where it goes.

looks like a battery Vent Hose. It may have served a purpose at one time. I wouldn't worry about it.

Flame Trap should not be covered with anything, it's leaking. It should have a good seal around it.

Default mistery hose

try the climate control check valve at top of the intake manifold... black and white and there should be a little hose coming from the firewall that connects to it. see picture of valve

try that
