Default Volvo 240 Battery Issue

My 1989 Volvo 240 with 140,000 miles has been having an issue with the electrical system recently. The battery was replaced a year ago, but last month the car would not start after being parked for a week. So I charged up the battery and put it back in the car. However, now the car occasionally loses all power while driving, and I would have to coast to the side of the road before turning it back on. The car has no problem starting back up, but I can't figure out the source of the problem. On two occasions, the car lost power after turning. Does it seem like the alternator is on its way out? or could i have a issue with a loose ground connection? Any advice would be much appreciated.

If you still have lights when it dies then it is not a battery problem and might be a bad fuel pump relay.

But if you loose all lights as well when it happens then I would look at a wiring issue for the Alt. or battery.
