Volvo 240 transmission leak on flared line

1990 Volvo 240 DL with approx 315,000 km.
A couple weeks ago I changed the rear shaft seal on the transmission. It was old and spraying fluid out of the shaft. Job went great, the seal no longer leaks. However, there's now a leak from a flared metal line on the left (driver's) side of the transmission pan.
I'm not sure what this line is. Could it be a cooler line? It's approx 1" diameter and has a flare with a metal nut fitting that screws into the left side of the tranny pan. The problem is that the metal nut fitting was overtorqued by the prev owner and half of it fell apart when I removed it to change the transmission filter. I tried putting it back as best I could, but couldn't get it quite as snug as before. Added some RTV and it held for a few weeks but this morning noticed a small pool beneath.
The attached photo is taken from underneath the driver's door.
Questions:
1 - What is this line?
2 - Do I need to replace the entire line? Any recommendations? Perhaps I can go rubber instead of metal...
Thanks,
anjp

Those filler tubes can a bear to loosen from the factory; finding them butchered is not uncommon. Often, I leave them on and pull the pan with it connected. I believe to do it that way there is a bracket that has to be removed. The fill tube assembly may possibly be available still from Volvo. The part number is 1220295.
