Hello! does anyone know why some 240's do not say DL on the trunk and some do? I own a 1992 Volvo 240 and my trunk emblems are "Volvo" on the left and "240" on the right.. (no DL). WHY?

 

The "DL" or Deluxe was used at various times during the years of production. It is actually the base model. The "GL" or Grand Luxe was the upgraded version and usually can be identified by the alloy wheels, power windows, etc.

 

DL = deluxe
GL = Grand lux (usually leather and electric windows)
240 = ?

 

Yes, I know what DL and GL stand for but I am trying to figure out why my 240 doesn’t have DL. It has power windows and I’m sure it must be a base model. Only says 240 though. Year of mine is 1992.

 

I believe the 1990-93 model years dropped the GL/DL designation and just said 240. We had an '89 that had the designation but our '90 and '91 did not.

 

That must be it! the late models just didn't say DL or GL on em anymore!

 

An 82 Sold on BAT today. Beautiful car People actually believed it had 65k miles on it but not gonna ruin anyones party. But it had a high compression motor ( could hear difference when he was flooring it). It also had full vinyl black interior and a manual sunroof. Beautiful car.
