Volvo 245 cold start after 6 years
Greetings from San Diego my esteemed fellow enthusiasts. It has been too long since I have come before you. Put simply, my a/c isn't working! It worked the last time I tried it. When I connect a gauge to it there's gas in the system. It seems as though the compressor is not coming on. Please let me know how to revive my system. As always, thank you for your time.

on the side of teh drier/reciever there's a pressure sensor with a 2 pin connector. on the plug that goes onto that sensor, one wire comes from the dashboard controller, and should be 'power' when the controller is saying 'turn the compressor on'. the other wire goes to another pressure sensor in the condensor, and from there it goes to the compressor, again, +12V == compressor clutch engaged. one of those pressure sensors tells it there's not enough pressure, and the other says there's too much pressure, either one 'open' and the compressor doesn't run.
[not sure all year 240's have the 2nd sensor on the condensor, if you let us know what year you have, we can check]

Pierce and friends, thanks for the speedy response. Misty is a 1985 245 DL automatic. I'm going to check her out today and try to apply your advice. Yesterday I degreased and cleaned the undercarriage of the car as well as a lot of the engine compartment because I'm replacing the alternator bushings. I'm also expecting air conditioner compressor bushings as well. I should probably replace my belts while I have it apart. How do I check the fan clutch for replacement? As always, thank you in advance.
