hi can anybody tell me what a crankshft sensor looks like please, been told it under the dissy cap, and can anybody how much they cost for a replacement part is please

Go to www.stepbystepvolvo.com. Pre-1988 Volvos had a Hall sensor mounted on the aft distributor (B230 engines). In 1988, Volvo went to an RPM sensor mounted on the bellhousing. Click on "Diagnosing No-Starts on Some 740/940 Volvos" for instructions and pictures.
