i need to know
if i want to convert 740 to 960 front
did i have to ....make some modifications like cutting and welding ?

IM not sure never seen one close up to know.

Look close at a 960, the wipers are different as well as the sheetmetal and bumpers. Sounds like more work than it appears.

Now, a quad-lamp 7xx to a fog-lamp 9xx, might be an easier swap.

 

I just did it with a set of 92s, everything fits except for the bumper. The 960 bumper is longer than the 740 bumper. The wiring for the fog lamps is there too.

 

"A set of 92's"? There was a major change in the 960 from 1995 on...

 

Your are correct, I have 92 960 with a blown motor but great body and interior and a 92 470T that will be the recipient of most every thing I can swap.
As noted earlier, the hood, cowl and fenders are slightly different on the 960.

 

for other readers, do note, 740's underwent some body changes in 1990 and again in 1991. the 1991-1992 740 wagons are virtually identical to 940 wagons.

the 960's, starting with the 1991 940SE (which was really a '960 turbo') used the aluminum hoods of the late version 760s, and had quite a few sheet metal changes, making them quite incompatible with 740/940 front end body parts.
