Default Volvo 940 - Rex Pulse Detector

Does anyone know of a workaround for a missing pulse detector on a Rex unit? It seems my no-start problem is somewhere in the wiring from the ECU to the fuel pump relay, so that the fuel pump doesn't engage when the engine cranks. I've seen a few "fixes" for the Jetronic, but nothing for the Rex. Thanks in advance!

the crank pulse detector is absolutely critical to the system operation, thats the only source of engine timing information, used for both spark and injection.
