Volvo 940 Turbo and Volvo 940 engines
I found myself in situation when I need to replace engine in my Volvo 940 Turbo from 1995 (just don't ask why). As far as I know its engine coded B230FT is very similar to model B230F used in non-Turbocharged versions of Volvo 940 and 740. Since it's much easier for me to obtain non-Turbocharged model than Turbocharged my question is - ARE ENGINES B230F AND B230FT INTERCHANGEABLE? I really need to replace engine block as well as pistons and possibly a crankshaft but I'm not sure about compatibility. Can I run into some trouble when I use B230F instead B230FT? I'm not sure how oil is supplied to a turbocharger from B230FT and if such hook-up would be possible with B230F.
I will be very thankful for every post on that matter.

Some of the B230F engines had a plug in the block you can remove to install the turbo return line. Some had nothing so using that block would be a pain in the neck.I would also change the head because the cams are diffrent. You may be able to change cams then reshim the lifters.

tubo valves are sodium filled- but will change out into another head. - Actually I think you can take a non-turbo head, read the letter off the back of camshaft, leave it if the same and changeout the valves. A '95 engine has internal oilers. I don't know what year they added that, but after '92 I am reasonably dure.
