Volvo AC and Radio Amplifier Questions

Volvo AC and Radio Amplifier Questions
Hi Everybody:
I need some help with an AC system part, and a radio amplifier for a 1987 760 TI.
My 760 has only 40,000 miles on it, and was in heated storage for 15 years before I bought it. There were only really two issues with the car when I purchased it...there was a vacuum leal below the dash, and the radio only played out of the two front door speakers.
I am having the AC troubleshot by the local Volvo dealer, and it seems to be pretty easy. There is a master controller unit that has a slightly thicker white silicone vacuum line going into a control unit that then distributes the vacuum to various controllers and bellows under the dashboard. What has failed, believe it or not is that the cast pot metal disk inside the unit has cracked, which is allowing vacuum to escape, and does not allow any of the various bellows and controllers to function. It is a very strange failure, and is most likely due to a manufacturing defect. Here it is apart:

The failed disc fits between the orange and white pieces shown in the picture. It has a small lever to turn the disc.
Does anyone know what the number of this part is? I went to volvowholesalepartsdirect.com and looked at their pictures, link below:
Heater unit With ATC (auto. temp. control) COMBU 4DRS CH 179796- INCL CH 174112-174847, CH 176190-176721 5DRS CH 110566- INCL CH 107417-107770, CH 108573-108821. Fits: 1987 Volvo 760 4DRS S.R 2.3l Fuel Injected Turbo | Volvo Wholesale Parts Direct
I think that the part in question is part number 24, which is the program controller, but am not certain. Of course, it looks entirely different than it does in the photos. Would anyone have an idea if this is correct, or if I am totally nuts? The dealer says the the distribution disc is NLA, and is not even certain the the controller unit is available from Volvo.
I am certain that I can find one used, but I would really like to find a new one, so I do not have to disassemble the dash in 6 months when the used one fails.
Also, I believe that my amplifier is failing. The wiring looks good, but of course, I am only getting sound out of the two front door speakers. When I remove the fuse from the amplifier, all of the sound goes out, and unless the rear channel of the tuner has completely died, and the sound still only comes out of the front two speakers even if I am playing a tape, I am assuming the amplifier has suffered partial failure. My car has uprated stereo, with the unpowered graphic equalizer, door speakers in the front and rear doors, and two Volvo rear-deck subwoofers.
Does anyone have one that they are no longer using because of a real stereo upgrade, or in a parts car, or have any idea where I might pick one up?
Normally, I would just put a new radio in, but this car is so, so nice and original, I would really like to keep it as stock as possible.
Many, many thanks!

that stereo wasn't in many 740's, either. the stereo that was in my 740 wagon just had the 2 tiny dash speakers and 2 rear door speakers. the speakers were powered by an amplifier near the steering column. when I installed an aftermarket CD/FM/etc I bypassed the amplifier entirely and wired the speakers directly to the aftermarket stereo (I also upgraded the original speakers to JL Audio 6" components in front, 5.25" coax in back)
