I picked up a aftermarket headlight for my 1992 745T from Craigslist (cheap), and its missing the lock ring that holds the 9004 bulb on. my old headlight was a Cibie volvo original, and its ring is NOT compatible with the aftermarket style reflectors. this is the rectangular non-foglamp style headight, but I dunno if these retainers are the same as for foglamp rectangulars (upmarket 940s and 960s)

left == aftermarket, right == Cibie OEM. I need one like the left...





top picture is the back side, bottom picture is the side facing the headlight bucket and forward... When I took my yellowing 20 year old Cibie headlight out, it pretty much distintegrated, the previous owner's mechanic had already replaced the other one with aftermarket (what part I took pic of above)

I'm good for paypal for whatever it takes to rush the part to me via USPS priority mail, plus a few bucks for the part itself. Until then, driving after dark is gonna be scary, hoping the lamp doesn't fall out of the socket and melt things.

 

ok, found a generic part at the local autoparts non-big-chain store... Dorman part 42415, fits a whole pile of 90s ford trucks, escorts, mustangs, as well as 90s dodge caravans etc.

fits the DEPO headlight perfectly. interestingly(?) it was a little too tight on the other aftermarket light that the PO installed (and that lights ring was a little loose on the DEPO headlight).
