Default Wanting to buy a Volvo

I have been looking at 700 and 900 series as well as the 850s to buy for my son for a first car. I was wondering what all I should know and what I should look while in my quest. It would be a higher miles car, likely over 100k, and I would just like to know all the things I should look for in buying one. Thank you

Default RE: Wanting to buy a Volvo

I have two 940's, both purchased from a dealer. One is a 1991 940 XTurbo Wagon and the other is a 1995 940 Sedan. The sedan is the most recent purchase, with it came a "CarFax Report" and a maintance history. I think the most important part of the mantance history is the oil change intervials and something that says the the timing belt has been changes per factory recomendations. I purchased the 1995 with 150K on the clock and it runs like a champ, everything works on the car as it should. My 91 I purchased with 59K on the speedo, it had a 36K/3 year bumper to bumper warranty, you had to pay the first $50.00 but what the heck at 99K miles I had a warranty. Didn't have problems until 147K and I blew a cooling system and head gasket...said to heck with it and put a 2000 5.0 Ford engine in it. Still gets over 19 miles per gallon, handles and drives like a Volvo and goes like stink......

Good Luck.........
