When I got my 86 the temp gauge was dead, so I took out the comp board and added the jumper wire.

Everything has been fine since.

IPD sells a little kit to jump it for $14 with instructions.

I'm getting tired of knocking on my speedo cluster every once in a while to amke mine work. I have the kit, just not quite the time yet.

I took the compensator board and tossed it. Replaced it with a 3" piece of wire between pins 1 & 3 where the compensator board plugged into. That was about 6 months ago.

Everything is now fine with the temp gauge.
