I just got 1988 Volvo 240DL with 358k miles and I love it, it needs some cosmetic work and PCV changed which will be a pain as I can see. But, I also noticed this yesterday...



Can somebody tell me what it is, and there is a hose coming out of it, as you can see in the picture and I dont know where to plug it. It comes out of the left side where the red circle is.

Aftermarket cruise control? Is there a goofy looking switch on the dash or steering wheel levers? The hose should be vacuum, at least plug it up.

 

That makes sense since the previous owner said that cruise is not connected.

Where should I plug it in? I dont see any weird switches on the dash for it...

If there are no switches then the whole thing is inop, so forget about it! Just make sure there is no vacuum leak which will make the engine run poorly.
