I just bought my first Volvo, a 84 244 DL and love it. I am planning a radio install this weekend, and there is no old radio. The speakers (front and rear) have been removed and where the radio should be, there are pockets, top and bottom. Whereshould the wires be located?

 

It should be the top pocket. Dose the bottom pocket have the lighter in it ?

Actually the stock radio was mounted in the bottom pocket. So if you're looking for wires they would probably be there. but the previous owner may have put a different system in (it sounds like they probably did since they took everything out) In which case they may have relocated it to the top pocket when they switched it out which is common in these 240s. So I guess the answer is that they could be either place.

 

Thanks guys, I mounted it in the bottom ( the bracket was in the glove box), had to run a power wire because the wires down there were a mess, but it works.
