Default Wiring colour codes and uses on 1987 240gl factory audio system.

Hi people, I'm replacing the 2 speaker radio wirh the system from my now dead, no compression in 4 cylinders 1999 v70.
So require the actual colour coding and wire allocation of the 240 harness.

you want this adapter, rather than cutting the wires.

i found my 1987 wiring diagrams... those colors don't match the factory harness connector.

factory harness that plugs into the 2-speaker radio has...

1 green - always on power to antenna
2 yellow-black - accessory/ignition switched power
3 red - control signal to power antenna
4 yellow-white - left (+)
5 grey-yellow - right (+)
6 - n/c
7 white - left (-)
8 grey - right (-)
9 black - ground

Hi Pierce, thanks again. Your info might do the job. This radio was in the lower console position. Would that make a difference to wiring colours. The unit is a factory Volvo radio the harness in the photos I cut from the unit.
Cheers

wait, the factory radio had a plug built into the back of the radio, and the harness connector has sockets rather than pins, and plugs directly into the radio.

I think what you have there is an after market harness adapter, similar to the one I linked on Amazon.

again,

1 green - always on power to antenna
2 yellow-black - accessory/ignition switched power
3 red - control signal to power antenna
4 yellow-white - left (+)
5 grey-yellow - right (+)
6 - n/c
7 white - left (-)
8 grey - right (-)
9 black - ground

I left out the pin diagram.

in your top picture, its

1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9

in the middle/bottom pictures, its

7 8 9
4 5 6
1 2 3

so... your wires are...

1 (N/C)
2 blue - accessory/ignition switched power
3 red - control signal to power antenna

4 white-blue - left (+)
5 blue-white - right (+)
6 - n/c
7 white - left (-)
8 lt blue - right (-)
9 black - ground
