Are the wiring harnesses the same for a 87 Turbo 740 and a 91 Turbo 740? They should be at least similar enough I can use most of the one out of the 91 correct?

 

They are different,but you can use almost all of the 91 harness. Does some of your connectors look like the one's in the pic?

yea they do..I just have a birds nest of wires for the previous owner and there are exposed wires everywhere so as lon as I can use most of it thats the most important part.

 

how much of the 91 harness can I use are all the connections on the motor the same?

No, they aren't all the same. You may have to splice in both the female and male sides from the 91 harness. You're dealing with 2 different fuel injection systems. The 87 has LH2.2 FI while the 91 has LH2.4 Check out Dave's site; he's the guru of Volvo harnesses. http://www.davebarton.com
