Wiring under 740 from console... how???
Hello! I have a 92 740 wagon (turbo but that’s not important for this). I want to run wiring from the dash to underneath the car near the middle. Does anyone know of a good access point where I can run some wire underneath? Thanks!
underneath the car, or under the carpet? whats going to be at the other end of this wire? how much wiring, like just a single +12 power wire, or a full bundle of audio, or what?
if its like for a trailer hitch or something, I'd go through the firewall into the left side of the engine compartment (opposite side from the exhaust!), put the wiring bundle in a protective loom, and secure it to the left side of the drive shaft hump. OR, run it inside to just near where it has to go, like under the carpet up against the left side of the transmission hump, or the driver side door sills, and exit in the rear. take out the seats on the side you're running the wiring to make this easier. the wagon trunk floor panels that are forward of the 3rd row seat and aft of the 2nd row seat come out pretty easily, too. if its audio wiring, put it on the RIGHT side of the transmission hump, away from any existing vehicle wiring to minimize audio interference.

p.s. Volvo actually recommended using the right side of the driveshaft hump under the carpet for customer added audio wiring
be SURE to fuse any power wires near the source of the power, so that if road debris or whatever rips the wire, and it shorts, the fuse blows rather than taking out your vehicle electrics.

Im trying to get completely under the car, because I'm installing an electric exhaust cutout. So I want to run few wires from the dash completely underneath. Also, your 740 is super clean, im jealous
louder does not make it faster.
that said, I'd probably run the wires inside the cab under the carpet to right near where the device is, and put a marine cable gland in the floor for the cable to go through.
