Fuel will go bad and can cause starting issues in 60 days. They make a fuel fortifier its cheap also check for rust in the fuel rail... assuming fuel pressure is good and you have spark and obviously compression.

Hi suter,

I would be very surprised if your fuel has gone bad causing your engine not to start. I bet your problem is something very simple that you may have overlooked hooking up. I'm hoping it's not the timing belt off a few teeth because that can be a little bit of a headache. I've encountered stuff like this before and the thing that does me well is just to slowly and carefully look things over one by one. Then start the process of elimination by checking spark and fuel delivery. If you have those two things then chances are your belt is off a few teeth. Please let me know what you find and good luck, I'm sure you'll figure out what the problem is and have it fixed in no time!!!

Does the frequency valve hum when you are trying to start the car?

It is supposed to Hum that means the cold start portion is working.

Make sure the Flapper in the Fuel system isn't stuck.
The big flapper under the big hose by the injection pump.

Oh ok thanks

i was wondering when i was doing the timing i aligned the cam shaft notches up and the crankshaft notshes up but when i go to the ummm, (the middle one) i could not see the marking on the metal so i put the white little dot thats on the edge of the gear at about 90 degrees and then i took the distributer cap off and i addjusted that middle gear a bit so that all 4 metal things on the outside and all 4 metal things on the inside(the spinny thing) where aligned
Is that what i was suppose to do ...or was it suppose to be not aliged ...and off a bit where there is that mark on the outer ring of the distrbuter(like a v)

wish i could draw here .... hope you undersatnd

Thanks

I'm not able to fully understand what you're trying to describe suter as to the timing marks, but here's an article that may help you confirm if you have pulleys lined up right. http://www.volvoclubofbc.com/technical/tech2005.html

I've got to change the belton my 91 240 very soon as well. Let me know if that link helps you and good luck!!

In that article it says, "Once the cap is off, care should be taken when rotating the intermediate shaft. The rotor may catch the rotor cap clips and bend or break them." .... well that happend to me, one of the 4 rotor arms that turn, got bent and i just bent it back as best i could .... this just came to my attention now could that be the problem? do i need a new distributer?

Possible that is the problem. The signal could be getting messed up.
